Outstanding Public Service Award

This award recognizes members who have exhibited a distinguished record in public service involvement.  Nominees for the award are judged by their volunteer participation over periods of time in community, charitable, and civic activities.

To Ralph Clermont, using the CPA designation to give back to his community is second nature.  Throughout his forty year career at KPMG, Clermont has been an active leader in numerous community and professional organizations, including Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, the St. Louis Regional Commerce and Growth Association, Boy Scouts of America, Children's Miracle Network, St. Louis University, Christmas in St. Louis, and the United Way of Greater St. Louis.

“Ralph Clermont exemplifies the definition of the word volunteer,” says Jim Orsund, executive vice president of Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation.  “He gives freely of his time and personal resources, and despite the fact that he rotated off our board, he constantly advocates on our behalf.  If an award is to be presented for public service, I can think of no finer recipient.”

Clermont’s distinguished commitment to his community is demonstrated through his service as a founding member of the St. Louis Regional Business Council.  He helped build the organization from the ground up, in terms of mission, resources, community and cultural initiatives, operations, and strategy for future growth.
