Jeffrey F. Ward, CPA
Director of Assurance Services
Stone Carlie & Company, LLC
Innovative User of Technology Award
This award serves to promote excellence among CPAs in integrating information technology with business practices. Nominees are evaluated on their efforts to enlighten and educate others as to the various ways that CPAs can contribute to corporate strategies and improve business practices through the application of IT.
Armed with a strong background in systems security and process assurance, Jeff Ward is prepared to identify control issues and work with management to appropriately assess these underlying risks and offer remediation assistance.
“Jeff serves as the bridge between the technical minds within the IT department and executive management to help keep IT and business strategies in sync,” says Donna Cunningham, chief financial officer at Stone Carlie. “He works closely with the firm’s clients to help them utilize current technologies to streamline antiquated processes.”
As part of these assignments, Ward serves as a consultant and project manager to coach management from the strategic planning process through the execution stage of the plan.
In addition to serving a diverse group of middle-market and emerging private and not-for-profit clients, Ward also serves as Stone Carlie’s Director of Technology and Security Risk Services. In this role, he ensures that services have been designed with a common goal of ensuring IT systems are reliable and secure. Ward strives to develop services based on the best practices available in today’s marketplace, and he tailors each engagement to meet the needs of the situation.
"As information technology becomes a more integral component of business practices, Jeff has been a tremendous resource to both Stone Carlie and the CPA profession," says Tom Valenti, managing member at Stone Carlie. "He serves as the firm's champion on technology-based initiatives and has unselfishly contributed significant time serving on several AICPA technology committees. Jeff is truly committed to promoting and educating others on the benefits of technology in business practices."
Ward is also generous with his time outside of his professional responsibilities, as evidenced by his service to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Helping Hands, and the American Heart Association.
