Dawn Anderson is known for inspiring students to pursue their goals, working diligently to give them the best educational experience possible, and being an enthusiastic supporter of lifelong learning.

As UCM’s Accountancy Program Coordinator, Dawn leads the department and is actively involved in innovating the program. She continually researches the latest practices and applies new classroom techniques to see what approaches best prepare her students for the workforce. She has incorporated more technology into her courses, utilized time-intensive practice cases in auditing, and learned new software to teach general ledger accounting. Her students describe her as committed to helping them understand topics in whatever way works best for them, and her colleagues have referred to her as the “glue” of the department.

Dawn has been an active faculty adviser for UCM’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi and helps arrange opportunities like Meet the Firms events and career panels so that students can learn about job options and network with professionals. In addition, she spearheads the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program at UCM to help students gain hands-on tax experience while serving the community. She was also an involved member and former chair of MOCPA’s Accounting and Auditing Committee, and currently serves on the society’s Technical Issues Group.
